Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PPG?

A PPG is a group of patients who want to help the practice to improve. They provide feedback to us on what we can make better and provide us with feedback on any new services that we would like to start running.

How much time would I have to commit to join?

The PPG meeting is held every three months (quarterly) and last for around 1hr 30mins.

We do ask that a chair, vice chair and secretary be elected from the members. These roles within the PPG may take a little more time as they would need to create the agenda for each meeting and type up the meeting minutes.

What type of things would we talk about?

We ask that PPG members do not use the forum to talking about any personal medical conditions/issues or complaints.

The meetings are to talk about improving the practice for all patients so are PPG members will share insight, act as a voice for the patients and review any new services or ways of working that we might propose to make to the practice.

Can anyone join?

Yes, anyone over the age of 18 who is registered with the practice, can join the PPG.

Will the meetings be face to face or online?
We would prefer to run the PPG meetings, face to face within the practice, but are happy to explore online options if this is what the members would prefer.

If you are interested in joining, please email friends.ofparksurgery@nhs.net

Friends of Park Surgery

The Friends of Park Surgery (FOPS) serves a dual purpose:-

  1. We act as the Committee for the Patient Participation Group for the Park Surgery Practice and represent the interests of the patients as a group concerning the running of the practice. Every patient registered with the Practice is automatically a member of the Patient Participation Group. On the following pages you will find our Newsletters and the results of previous patient surveys.
  2. As a registered charity, we raise funds to help provide equipment and services in support of the patients. Since 2006 over £50,000 has been raised. Purchases include ECG machines, chairs for waiting room, pulse oximeter, defibrilator, BP machines, and a dermascope.

In order for us to share information with you, you will need to register your interest with FOPS separately from the Practice. Please contact us by e-mail at friends.ofparksurgery@nhs.net or ask at Reception and they will pass your details to us.

The Friends also has a 100 Club to help raise funds. Over the last 11 years, the 100 Club has raised over £5,000 to support the work of FOPS, and has helped the Friends purchase equipment for the Surgery.

By participating in the 100 Club you will have a chance of winning £250 in each quarterly draw. The 100 Club is open to all members of the Friends, with an annual subscription of £20. Please contact us if you would like more information.

Donations & Gift Aid

To support our charitable activities, we ask that members make a regular donation to our fund raising activity.

Whilst there is no minimum, we hope members will feel able to set up a Standing Order for £10 once a year.

We can provide a Standing Order Mandate to facilitate payments. Cash or cheque is equally welcome.

It is possible for us to make a Gift Aid claim from HM Revenue and Customs in respect of your donation, provided you are a UK Tax Payer.

This increases every pound you donate by 25p. If you are happy to donate with Gift Aid we will supply a Gift Aid Form or you to complete.
