Data Protection Act

Patient medical records are held on a central database.

Access to the system is password protected and we are registered with and comply with the terms of the Data Protection Act.

Personal health information may be shared with other health care professionals as part of the patients’ medical history.

Access to Medical Records

Patients may make an appointment to view their medical records. Staff must, however, ask a doctor to authorise access. An administration charge will be made plus the cost of any photocopying required. 

Patient Responsibilities

We expect patients to respect other patients and their families, to attend for their appointment promptly and to inform us if they have to cancel an appointment. Abusive behaviour towards staff is not tolerated.

If you are late for an appointment it is at the discretion of the clinician whether you will still be seen, you may be asked to wait until the end of their surgery.

Violent and Abusive Patients

In line with the Government's NHS Zero Tolerance Campaign the practice does not tolerate verbal or physical abuse of GPs or staff. Violent patients will be reported to the police and removed from the practice register with immediate effect.
